An ending of sorts

Hello world and welcome to week 23 of my blog. No doubt many of you who read this blog will already know that in the past week I have announced that I will be doing my last show of Skerat's Eclectic Podcasts indefinitely and probably forever tomorrow. It was not an easy decision to make, my shows have been going for over four years and my following on social media has grown substantially in that time. Everyone who has followed the show has become a part of it in some way. You have all enjoyed the incredible journey and it’s been a real pleasure to have you all along for the ride. I have been fortunate enough to have been able to get to know and play over 500 acts and easily play tracks that go well into the thousands. This has meant that all the shows have always had an incredible variety of fresh tunes, which of course is very unlike mainstream radio. I have taken great pride in doing all I could to promote and equally protect these acts. Every single show has had a detailed playlist posted to Facebook with not only artist and song, but their webpage as well. All tracks were consciously protected from copying by my talking into the intro and radio iding them near the end and I believe strongly that all shows should do this. I will always remain incredibly thrilled to know that I have given dozens of acts their very first airplay anywhere in the world and equally I premiered many more tracks. To see all of those acts and their tracks being played elsewhere, will always be a huge and rewarding thrill and I am very happy to know the music will live on through others. I do say quite strongly though please don’t take these independent shows for granted, as they do take a lot of time and effort and it is vitally important that they have your support to keep them going. While I do sign off from the show, be heartened to know that the past shows will always remain on mixcloud and that the Facebook and twitter accounts will remain, even the blog will continue, but at a more leisurely monthly post.
